What Can I Do to Help Combat Climate Change?
This is a question that many people have asked themselves in recent years, and the answer is actually quite simple. Although you as one person may not be able to make a noticeable impact on Climate Change, if everybody works to reduce emissions, a real change could be made!
The first step when it comes to helping to combat Climate Change locally is to raise awareness for it. Some people don't know what Climate Change is, while others may dismiss it and say that it is not real. If people are more aware of what it is and how it is impacting people, they might try to do more to prevent it.

The second step when it comes to helping to combat Climate Change locally is to reduce energy consumption. Using renewable energy is a very good way to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Solar Panels are a very good way to get green energy at a low cost. Another good way to help reduce emissions is to reduce waste. Reducing, Reusing, and Recycling helps reduce the amount of greenhouse gases we are letting into the atmosphere. Using less water is another great and easy way to help reduce emissions. It takes a lot of energy to make deliver water to your house and make it safe to consume. It takes even more energy to turn this into hot water.. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, letting your faucet run warm water for 5 minutes uses the same amount of energy as leaving a 60 watt light bulb on for 14 hours. An easy way to use less water is to take shorter showers and always remember to turn off the water when you aren't using it. Using alternative forms of transportation is another way to cut back on greenhouse gas emissions. Whenever you can walk somewhere instead of driving, you definitely should. Not only is walking completely harmless to the environment, it is also a good way to stay in shape. Riding a bike or taking public transportation is also a very good way to get around. When you do drive, consider carpooling with other people and doing everything in one trip. Lastly, turn off electronic when you aren't using them. Lots of appliances still use power even when they are turned off. Consider unplugging your chargers when you aren't using them, or turning off the T.V. when you aren't really watching. When you are shopping for electronics or appliances, look for products that display the Energy Star label.
Doing these simple tasks is a great way to help combat Climate Change in your community. |
